چکیده
In the extreme north of Brazil, in Roraima, there is an important set mafic, volcanic or plutonic rocks, associated with Juro-Cretaceous magmatism, and one most extensive areas Colônia do Taiano region, first agricultural colony Roraima. addition to basalts, many diabases diorites occur, forming patch soils good suitability, cerrado-forest transition. Two soil profiles developed from diabase were studied, after selecting representative pedons area. P1, Argissolo Vermelho Eutrófico latossólico (Ultisol) P2 típico (Ultisol), described collected. Morphological, physical, chemical, mineralogical analyses, extraction Fe, Al, Ti Si oxides by sulfuric attack carried out; Fe2O3, Al2O3, TiO2, SiO2, plasma emission spectrometry; Fe-DBC (dithionite-citrate-bicarbonate) Fe ammonium oxalate. The presented a typical latosolic morphology at base profile, top B horizon showing waxiness varying moderate abundant, thus revealing polycyclic genesis Bt superimposed on Bw, formed previous cycle. SiO2 contents indicated desilication process, low trace elements TiO2 showed mafic materials poor magnetite, reworking parent material pediment drier climate. Feo/Fed ratio proved be atypical for Amazon consistent lithology.

This study presents the species richness, temporal distribution and reproductive activity of anurans from the Uaimií State Forest (Floresta Estadual do Uaimií - FLOE Uaimií), situated in the Quadrilátero Ferrífero region, municipality of Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais state, Brazil. Field activities were performed monthly from September 2009 to August 2010. We recorded 36 anurans species, distributed...

(Floristic composition, diversity and structure of the “cerrado” sensu stricto on rocky soils in northern Goiás and southern Tocantins, Brazil). The “cerrado” sensu stricto is a savanna woodland physiognomy which occupies most of central Brazil, with the degree of canopy cover varying from 10% to 60% at a site with trees reaching up to seven meters high. It occurs mostly on deep and well-draine...

Chagas disease has been almost entirely eradicated from the arid zones in Central and Northeastern Brazil where rare or no autochthonous cases have been reported. However, in the last 10 years the disease has increasingly been registered in the Amazon Region. Aiming to investigate the possibility of the occurrence of autochthonous cycle of Chagas disease in Roraima, triatomine collections, vect...
